Windows XP SP3?

BobK

Hello,

I see that there is an SP3 Release Candidate 2 available to the
public.

Is this a reliable update or should we be waiting for a final version?

Thanks,

Bob

wait for final. Beta's/rc's are still buggy.
They are only good if you have a test system and want to play and don't
mind having to reload!.

If you are not familiar with using beta software you should be waiting for
the final release.

The final is right around the corner. A few indications and press
leaks have indicated it should be out by the 3rd or 4th week of April.
But then again....

Regardless of how good or how reliable any piece of beta or
pre-release software is, I am always very much against running it
unless you are the kind of person who enjoys playing with these
things, and have a spare machine to run it on that you wouldn't mind
reformatting and reinstalling Windows on.

That goes double when you are talking about a pre-release of an
operating system or service pack.

There is no reason to rush this, and no reason to take any extra risk.
Wait for the official release. It won't be much longer.

It is completely reliable as far as I am concerned. I don't think there
is likely to be any change in the final version except few superficial
changes in texts etc. I have installed it on my production system and I
have not seen any problems as yet.

In fact, MS will deliberately make final version buggy to make people buy
VISTA!! They are running a business and the only way they make profits is
when they sell products - not give away products!
