XP SP2 on Corp XP?

Has anyone gotten Service Pack 2 to install on a Corp XP with Service Pack
1a and all the patches? I keep getting a "FILE NOT FOUND" error right after
it extracts the files.

Any ideas to track down the problem?

It's in beta and isn't meant to install on your system. Especially a
production system . Where did you get it ?

Hi

What do you mean by 'Corp XP'?

The Corporate version of XP which needs no activation.

You may have a bad download. Retry it. If you are getting it from an
illegitimate source, then don't retry it - wait until it is publicly
released. Beta software is not "better" software and can cause unrecoverable
corruption on the system into which it is installed. It should NEVER be
installed on a production system.

Incidentally, there is no "corporate" version, only a volume-license
version. Your use of the term implies that you are using an illegally copied
version of the volume license version that is commonly available on the
internet.

Actually it works good. I had no problem with it, but it
slows the system down , don't know if it's the popup
stopper or the new firewall.

I downloaded it from the MSDN subscriber site. Yes I meant the volume
licensed version and no, there is no illegit software involved. Its all
legit. I work for a company and we get the volume licensing version.

Which usually means one that was pirated - though the common variant of
that would not accept SP1(a), but MSoft may well have extended that.

ANyone who tries installing a leaked beta service pack at all, let alone
on something used seriously, is an idiot anyway

If you did indeed get SP2 of MSDN, you should have had to agree to a
Beta Trial agreement. Part of that agreement is that you don't
discuss the Beta test outside of appropriate newsgroups...and this
isn't one of them.

WinXP sp2 beta is indeed available on MSDN for download.

It's not, it's just that most people are making assumptions about the origin
of your copy as this usually happens anytime a beta product goes out.

Hi,

Ok, so have you tried a new download yet? Also make sure AV is disabled and
\temp folders are clear. Although there is no official support for this beta
release yet, you may have better luck getting assistance in one of the MSDN
groups.

Tom

No argument. As I stated though, to get it you agree to not disclose
it's functions and problems outside appropriate private
newsgroups...and this isn't one of them.

L

Lorne Smith

Well... At the time you didn't say you've got it via your MSDN subscription.
If such is the case, you should know that these groups are not the correct
place for help on the beta so I therefore made the assumption that you were
one of the 100's of people who'd found and installed a leaked beta. You
made it seem even more likely this was the case by using the term "Corp XP",
which is a term for the pirated volume licensing version. A legitimate user
of a VL version would normally use the correct terminology...

If you don't want people to make this kind of assumption, then you should
provide information to the contrary...
