XP SP2 Laptop Internet Explorer page/ Font and NAV problems

With SP1 XP/Pro and MUI - no problems with IE and any webpage , and NAV 2003
- on both my laptop and Desktop (same apps/versions..)

With Sp2 - the desktop is still well behaved however the Laptop is now
different.

1. Laptop based Internet Explorer NOW is very fussy -
* works with some sites and not others (ie displaying text or the underlying
HTML with error messages)
* even though the VIEW Text is set to Western (ISO) - the Font Languages
persists in trying to display Chinese as default - it will NOT hold the Latin
langauge setting.

2. Laptop Nortons AV (NAV) 2003 now will not complete LiveUpdate - whereas
the Desktop does, as did the Laptop SP1 system.

So what is required to get SP2 to work on the Laptop ??

Thanks Rock

* I had checked the laptop OEM - no SP2 concerns apparent
* WHY is there a difference in SP2 outcome between the Laptop and the
desktop - all other software beiong the same ... and yes I did clean up each
machien before/after the upgrades
* I wll try the IE erg edit workaround - but again - why is the Laptop only
affected ??

thks, Tom

Because they are different at the hardware level. Computers are just
not hardware and software, there are an integrated system. And besides
even with what would appear to be the same systems in both hardware and
software, there can still be differneces. Laptops are very proprietary.
Did you check with the laptop vendor to see if they had any SP2
patches? Some such as HP need specific patches before applying SP2.
