xp sp2 installer not started/configured

im installing a winzip app, im admin, but after the
initial unzip (befor i choose install folder) i get a
message that ms installr' is not started or not
configured. i moved the app from drive to drive, didnt
help, also checked services and restated installer.

any help would be great

It maybe that the installer file has become corrupted. have you tried
reinstalling the windows installer? Go to my website
www.freelanceit.glowinternet.net click the Win XP Faq button and take a look
at question 66.
Before attempting a reinstall of the windows installer you may also like to
run sfc. Click Start>run In the Run dialog box type "sfc /scannow" (without
the quotes) This will scan your file system for any changed files etc. 'sfc'
will ask for your original windows xp cd to be inserted into your cd-rom
drive so make sure you have it handy.
If you get no joy with 'sfc' try the reinstall method
