XP SP2 - IE6 keeps crashing - HELP

S

Stephen

Hi

Ever since I installed SP2 (from a CD off a certified UK magazine)

When looking at 'help/about' - Internet Explorer is listed as being
part of Service Pack 2.

Internet Explorer 6 crashes sporadically. Some days it
doesn't happen - others 2 or 3.

I can have maybe 3 windows open or 10 - without warning
they all just shut down together.

Norton is not picking up on this.

I have not installed anything new.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance - Stephen

Hi Stephen,

Reinstall Internet Explorer. Go to the Control Panel/Folder Options/View
tab, set it to "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected
operating system files [recommended]". Also uncheck "Hide extensions for
known file types".

Then, open Windows Explorer from Start/All Programs and go to the
C:\Windows\Inf folder. Locate the ie.inf file, right-click it and choose
install.

You may need to either insert your WinXP CD or know where your I386 folder
is located on the hard drive. You may also need to know where the
\ServicePackFiles folder is (usually under the Windows directory).
