XP SP2 - IE Problems

After installing SP2 my IE no longer allows:
- ftp-ing
- viewing of jpg files
- downloading of *.exe files
- when I try to save off a graphic file the save as
dialog will not allow me to save the graphic off as
anything but untitled.bmp

I know I should be able to reset the system to overcome
the problems - I'm just not sure where to go or what to
do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have been searching for help with this problem and have tried many things including altering my hosts file. However, I read that Microsoft has a hot fix for this problem, but unfortuately I have not heard from them yet as to how to down load it.
