To-day, I installed SP2 on two computers, both run on Asus P3BF motherboards
with the 440 chipset, a 400 Mgh cpu on one and a 500 Mgh cpu on the other;
in other words not your top of the line systems.

I took great care to run Adaware and Avast Anti-virus, cleaned all temp
and Win prefetch before downloading SP2 on an automatic update. I also
removed Zone Alarm from both systems since it is listed as problematic in
Microsoft list of incompatibles.

Microsoft's installation was flawless on both machines; both presently purr
like contended kittens.

Don't believe all the horror stories.

I haven't had any problems either & I'm even running Zone
Alarm....I do have to say I waited 2 extra days before
doing this sp2 because of reading this forum..

<SNIP>

I wouldn't call that flawless. I'd call that a work-around.

No, I would call that "preparing for the install".

Same here, but it doesn't mean a thing. Service Pack updates are always
dependent on the diligence of the user, the system configuration, integrity
of the downloaded update. The main thing most users forget is to backup
before applying any Service Pack. With a proper backup, a bad Service Pack
update is no problem.
