XP SP2 and No sound

I bit the bullet and installed SP2 on my computer. Ever since I have not
been able to get any sound card to work. I have tried a couple of different
ones and they load into windows ok but then dont show up as a preferred
device. I have updated to the latest bios, latest driver ets.... Any
thoughts??

Just a thought, try installing the latest version of DirectX.

Try a hardware or sound support newsgroup? This one supports networking
problems.
