XP SP1a Installation Error

Hi

I have a problem when upgrading from XP Home to XP SP1a.

The installation goes fine until about 20 mins into it when it is installing
files, I get the following message.

"Cannot create a file when that file already exists"

The next message is:

"Service Pack 1 installation did not complete. Select OK to undo the changes
that have been made or select cancel to quit. If you select cancel, your
system will be left in a partially updated state and may not work
correctly."

When I select OK, the files are copied back and the PC shuts itself down and
reboots.

I've tried using both the full installation as well as the Express
installation from the Windows Update website.

Is there a way I can get XP SP1a installed?

My point was that if you already have SP1
"To determine if you are running Windows XP SP1, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. If "Service Pack 1" appears under System, you are already running Windows XP SP1. There is no benefit to installing SP1a if you are already running Windows XP SP1. Microsoft does not recommend that you install SP1a if you are already running SP1

Windows XP SP1a is the same as Windows XP SP1 except that the Microsoft virtual machine (VM) is removed in SP1a.
