Installed xp sp1. System continually reboots at startup.
I can get to the safe mode menu, but cannot boot into
safemode, system reboots at windows loading screen. Same
with last good. I have tried to run repair through cd
setup, but don't know what I need to do.
chkdsk shows good.

Possibly your NTOSKRNL.exe file.

This is used during startup, and there are some problems that i have found
with this file when installing SP1

Use recovery console and just delete this file found in c:\windows\system32

Windows will automatically bring back the good one.

I have done this myself and fixed the exact same problem that you are
describing, however it might make you feel better if someone else in this
group would verify that this is what they would try ; )
