SP1 causes reboot loop

I installed SP1 on my Vista PC yesterday and it now will reboot
endlessly. Booting in safe mode, I can see that the reboot happens
after crcdisk.sys is displayed in the load sequence.

This is a dual boot computer and I booted into XP and did a chkdsk on
the Vista boot drive to no effect.

Any ideas how to fix Vista?

Their idea of fixing it appears to be backing the service pack out.
I would rather get SP1 to work.
