XP SP 2 on a AMD athlon 1.3 GHZ

I am having difficulties with a Hp pavillion with a AMD athlon 1.3 GHZ and
128 Mb ram. It has slowed considerably since installing XP pro SP2. I thought
the specs would be adequate to run ?? Note this computer did have major
Adware/Spyware problems which I cleaned using Adaware, SB S&D, Hijack This
etc ... It all seems to be clear now so I just wonder if it's specs are
letting it down or maybe there is something more sinister wrong wit hsome of
the hardware or something. Any thoughts / opinions??

128 MB of RAM is NOT adequate for XP. Stick at least another 256 MB in.

No, not really. How much RAM you need is not a one-size-fits-all
situation, but *everybody* doing much more than playing solitaire
needs more than 128MB..

You get good performance if the amount of RAM you have keeps you
from using the page file, and that depends on what apps you run.
Most people running a typical range of business applications find
that somewhere around 256-384MB works well, others need 512MB.
Some people, particularly those doing things like editing large
photographic images can see a performance boost by adding even
more--sometimes much more.
