XP slow to startup

Hi,

I have Windows XP on an IBM thinkpad, and after I logon to XP, it seems like
XP pauses for about 30seconds before actually starting up. Anyone have an
idea as to what might cause it?

Try this in Safe Mode.

Also after starting windows:-
start >Run >type sfc\ scannow >ok
