XP shutting down unexpectedly

I am having a strange and aggravating problem. I just
upgraded from an AMD 2200+ to a 3000+ with a Gigabyte
MB. I use audio programs constantly and have never had
problems. Now, when using Acid or Soundforge, when I try
to apply a Reverb plug-in my computer shuts itself off.
I cannot figure out why it is doing this. Can anyone
shed some light on this. Other less intensive plugins
work fin, but as soon as you try a reverb plug, from any
manufacturer, the PC shuts down and I have to hard
reboot. PLEASE HELP!

Hi,

Have you tried doing a repair installation since the upgrade? Did you
recheck cpu settings in the system BIOS after installing the new unit?
