Windows Hangs on "Windows Shutting Down"

I have a Gateway 800Mhz Flex Case (Low Profile) with 384 MB Ram, 20GB HDD,
and WinXP. I receintly installed a Belkin 2.0 3-Port PCI Card. It's installed
alongside a Nivida 64Mb Video card. The IRQ's are assigned correctly. They
both work pefectly. I have a Linksys Wireless-G USB network Adapter plugged
into one of the ports on the Belkin. Whenever I shut down the computer it
hangs on "Windows is Shutting Down" as long as 15 minutes. I must use the
on/off button to turn the puter off. I have disconnected the Network adapter
and the puter shuts down as it should. (The network adapter works in the
onboard USB 1.1 ports, not as well but it works). I have used other devices
in the Belkin Ports and they work. The computer shuts down as it should. I
have tried the Network adapter in another computer,s 2.0 USB and it works as
it should. This problem started with the Belkin PCI, but it works perfectly,
expect when shutting down. Tom is confused.

Hi,

I have the same problem: the computer freezes on Windows is Shutting Down
screen. I am also having problems with stand-by and hibernation modes.
Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

I have Dell Inspiron 9100 with Belkin USB Bluetooth module (which I plug-in
only occassionaly).

Are there any resources with solutions for this issue?

Thanks,

Petr

I have the same problem. It occasionally (more often than not) hangs
when I try to hibernate, shut-down, or stand-by. I have an IBMr40
Laptop.

next time you boot, go into the BIOS setup (maybe F2). DISABLE teh
BIOS power management. only use the Windows power mgmt.

Try a different NIC. Try a different PCI card.

Rock, this is the second pci card. They were both Belkin....."You may have
something here". I will try another brand and see what happens. Try another
NIC? I am lost here. The Nic's were installed automatically when windows
detected the PCI Card. I'm thumping my head here. The PCI card works with
everything I plug into them, in any port, it is just the matter of the
shutdown hang.
