XP Shutdown

When I try to shutdown my XP, my antivirus will close, my messager will close
and then I have to click on start, turn off computer and select turn off
again before it will start the shutdown and close.
Anything I need to look at that might be causing this hitch?

Thanks

The Jim Eshelman's web site had a note on the Toshiba Notebook; What he had
written about the Power Mgmt. No, that was not the problem. Then I remembered
that it must be a program intervenning with the shut down. Yes, I had put my
Dragon Naturally Speaking "Quicklaunch at startup" But Dragon must be shut
down before you sign off. So, after taking the Quicklaunch off, it shuts down
like it should.
