xp shutdown question

Hank

Here's one I haven't found any help with while researching shutdown problems.

When I select Shutdown or Restart, a small window pops up that says 'shutting
down Explorer' and it has a progress bar. There's an 'OK' box that I can click
or
just press 'Enter' or just wait for the progress bar to complete. The system
then
proceeds to display the same typw wondow for the System Tray, same everything
......after which it proceeds to complete the normal shutdown. Not a real
problem,
but it's annoying. It began this after I had to do a repair install.

Yes, I've scoured the usual sites and read, read, read.

System is AMD 2400+ on an ECS motherboard, 512 megs ram. Nothing super
special or unusual about the machine.

Any ideas?

Hi Hank,

Suggestions:

This edit controls whether Windows should automatically power down or reboot
your computer once it has finished the shutdown process.

This edit automatically ends tasks and timeouts that prevent programs from
shutting down and clears the Paging File on Exit.
