XP shut down slow

I have a top spec machine, 2.6 GHz P4, 512 MB RAM, 160 GB
HDD, 256 MB Graphics Card, DVD-RW, DVD-ROM etc

XP seems to take 3 minutes to shut down when I click shut
down and then 'turn off computer' Is there any way to
speed this up?

Sure there is if you don't mind doing some reg editing. My
machine shuts down in 7secs. go> start\run and type in
regedit and hit ok. Now click the + beside these entries.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet and then click
on Control to highlight the key and open it's values in
the right panel. Now look in the list for
WaitToKillServiceTimeout and right click on it and then
click modify and type in 200 and away you go. There are
other tweaks as well but lets start slowly and work your
way up. See if this helps. If you want more then e:mail
me. Have fun

Hi Phil,

This behaviour is normal if the system is configured to clear page file at
shutdown.

Enable a Proper Shutdown - Download the fix from Kelly's site:
