Try R.clicking the desktop,properties,settings tab,advanced,adjust settings.
Also, you might try microsofts "clear type",an option for xp,installed as
default
in windows 7 and vista,it clears up type on the pc,as its always on.

i found it, not the "contrast" per se' setting, but the clear type & so far,
it is helping - contrast is better w/ a darker font..

a few months ago, when i wasnt on much, i did a few things, i found in
google to maybe speed up my machine & one was the fonts, but could never
find my way back to the same thing; i dont recall ever going thru control
panel>appearance/themes> display>appearance>effects, but this has indeed
helped a lot, at least on a few windows i do have open.

again, andrew, many thanks for your help as i wasn't even aware of clear
type!

You might not be able to do anything with web pages if they are written very
badly such that all the formats and displays are hard wired "absolutely"
using CSS sheets (CSS = Cascading Style Sheets).

If the style sheets are written properly with relative measurements or using
percentages then you will be able to.

thanks. i tried the left shift/alt/print screen, but for the few games i
play - text only - i don't like the reverse of the background & text, well,
it's my eyes that took issue with it! & it messed up my desktop folders, in
that it moved them all over the place & out of the order in which i was
familiar

is there a way to just darken all text, if they are not using css ?

many thanks to all!
