Tried...

- Checking that the keyboard is plugged in (if not bluetooth)
- Replacing the keyboard with a known good keyboard

You have not given enough information, really...

- Is the keyboard USB or PS/2 (if either)
- Is the keyboard bluetooth?
- Does it (did it ever?) work in the system BIOS (if so - it may be a driver
issue, if not - it's likely to be a dead keyboard.)

Essentially - it sounds like the keyboard is physically dead. Replace it
with a known good keyboard.

Wireless keyboards, to me anyway - have always been a wash when it comes to
personal use. 1 in every 1000 might actually have a legitimate reason for a
wireless keyboard beyond stopping cable clutter and the ones stopping the
cable clutter seldom move the keyboard from its current location meaning the
cable would be a minimal issue - just a eye sore (maybe.)

That's even worse.

Get an inexpensive USB keyboard (buy, borrow) and see if it works.

If you can get into the system BIOS and can use the keyboard in the BIOS -
then it is not a Windows issue. It would eliminate a software cause.

Worse because it gives you some options/usage (teaser.)

You can have as many keyboards connected at once as you want, and mice.
They may battle one another if you try to use more than one at a time. ;-)

Try moving the antenna for the keyboard to another place. It is the part
that plugs into the USB port.

Then you really need to beg/borrow/buy a USB wired keyboard and verify if it
is the keyboard that died (in part, whether by the actual keys or the
connection to the wireless) or something else.

Right now - if the mouse is working - it's no problem to move a wireless
keyboard out of the way for the wired one.

I wouldn't replace anything else until you confirm the issue.

thx so much shenan - will do and will let you know.

Try unplugging the mouse and check the keyboard. Perhaps the two interfere
with each other?
