XP shows incorrect memory

I have 4 slots which are occupied with 1GB RAM sticks… should have total of
4GB of RAM yet windows only shows 3 GB of RAM…
Things I’ve tried:
Updated to SP2
Added the /PAE switch in boot.ini file
Video card has 256MB RAM built in to board so I don’t think that is the
culprit…
Any help is greatly appreciated…

There are other things which may be at fault here, but the first thing
to check is that your motherboard can support a total of 4 gig ram. ie
just because it has 4 slots doesnt mean it can support 4, 1 gig sticks.

good point ie when booting up how much ram is shown.
