I am trying to install XP Pro SP2 (32 bit version) on a new system. I go
through the setup and everything looks normal, hit F6 to load the Intel RAID
driver, it loads it and continues loading what it needs to get started, then
it says Starting Windows, and it blue screens with the following
information:

0X0000007B (0XF7C79524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

Any ideas?

Following is the system configuration:

Case: CoolerMaster ATXM TAC-T01 RT BK

Power Supply: CoolerMaster RealPower 550W RS-550-ACLY

Motherboard Abit AW8-MAX 955X

CPU: Intel Pentium® 4 660 Processor Prescott 3.6GHz, 800MHz FSB, Socket 775,
2MB Cache (64 Bit)

RAM: Corsair 1GB Kit DDR2-667 PC2-5300 Value Select VS1GBKIT667D2

VIDEO: eVGA GeForce 7800 GT CO PCI Express 256MB

Hard Drive 2 Western Digital Caviar 250GB SATA II WD2500KS 250GB Serial ATA
II 7200RPM Hard Drive w/16MB Buffer, configured as a RAID0 array (using
Intel's Bios options)

DVD+-RW: Plextor 16X PX-716SA/SW RT SATA drive, connected to the Silicon
Image SATA controller (set to operate in IDE mode)

Floppy: Mitsumi FA404A 404M (the only reason I have the floppy in is so I
could install XP with RAID support)

Youre BIOS should be set in:integrated peripherals or similiar,OnChip Serial
ATA Mode:RAID and OnChip Serial ATA:enhanced Youre 1st boot device:
bootable add-in device (RAID) or similiar. You fail to mention youre RAID
configuration (this creates a RAID set after the BIOS) are you sure you have
a configured RAID array set....Also,at F6,you need to select controller+ OS,
install 2X then at 3rd,press enter key,if it continues as described youre not
installing properly.Last but not least, this may help or confuse you

In my post I mentioned that I have the BIOS set up correctly and that I have
a RAID0 volume set up. SATA mode is set to RAID, Enhanced Mode, with SATA
set to SATA II mode.

I switched things around a bit as follows:

1. I moved the hard disks to the Silicon Image SATA Controller

2. I moved the DVD burner to the Intel SATA controller

3. I set the Intel SATA controller to non-RAID

4. I set the Silicon Image SATA controller to RAID

5. I re-configured the disk array to RAID 0 using the Silicon Image BIOS

6. I downloaded the Silicon Image SATA RAID driver

7. I restarted the XP setup, hit F6, inserted the floppy with the Silicon
Image driver, the setup resumed fine and everything is running fine now. The
board has an Intel 955x chipset, so I'm suspecting a bad Intel RAID driver.

DO NOT install the RAID or SCSI drivers, it screws everything up. (I don't
even know why they use that driver.)
