XP setup cannot run under safemode

After trying many thing to save my laptop, I am stuck in the middle of
re-installing Windows XP Home. I am using a "Reinstallation CD" that came
with my laptop. The last thing I tried to be before the re-installation was
to make XP boot up in Safemode.

Now I am getting a dialog box saying "Windows XP Setup cannot run under
Safemode. Setup will restart now." But when the laptop restarts, it is
still in Safemode, and it needs to restart again. It's a never ending cycle.

My questions: What can I do to get my laptop out of Safemode so that the
setup can complete?

Thanks,
JS

Hi,

Press "F8" during the boot process and check if you can boot under "Normal
Mode" or "Last Known Good Configuration".

I just tried it and it didn't work with "Normal Mode" nor "Last known good
configuration".

I didn't know about the "F8" key until now. The way I set it in Safemode
was in the MSCONFIG window. One of the tabs in MSCONFIG has a Safemode
button.

Any other ideas?
