xp services

Hi, I,m a relative newbie with xp and zone alarm. Some services? are asking
permission to access the internet, ie spooler something or other etc. How do
I know for sure what to allow or disallow? I would appreciate any help as I
am pretty green in these matters. Thanks in advance.

Put the program name into google and see what comes up. Especially if you
start off with a virus and adware scanned system chanes are that everything
will be OK, so once you have ticked 'remember this' you will get very few
requests after a few hours of use. Most likely times to get more are after
you have done some windows updates, or installed a new program. Of course
its always possible to disguise a virus or worm with a good name, hence the
importance of starting off with a thorough scan.
