XP service pack 2

Is XP SP2 the same for the Intel Pentium 4 and the AMD Athlon 64?

I have the full install on CD and have installed it without any problems
on my Intel machine, but I am not sure if this will also work on my
AMD 64 bit machine.

No, I believe there's specific updates for the 64-bit edition. If the
download webpage doesn't mention 64-bit, then it's for the 32-bit versions
(as in all normal editions).

I have SP2 on CD with the full 272+ MB install file.

I just installed it on my computer with the AMD Athlon 64 bit processor
and it is working just fine. That is the computer that I am using right
now.

Thanks for the info. I saw where one of the MS MVPs also
indicated the same thing in another thread so I went for it.
It is good to see the SP2 indication and to have a working
computer. Hopefully I won't find any surprises as I continue
to use this computer.
