XP Service Pack 2: mail remains is outbox longer than usual

Setup: XP Professional Workstation with Outlook 2002
(10..6516.6626) SP3, Exchange Server 2000 (SP3).

After installing SP2 on the workstation, there is a
noticable hesitation on emails being sent. A simple test
email will remain in the OUTBOX for approxiamtely 5-10
seconds longer than machines that are pre SP2.

Before doing a company-wide SP2 update, I want to know if
this is expected behaviour, and if this can become an
exponential problem if all machines with SP2 are hitting
the Exchange at one time...

Thanks

Seems that emails remain in outbox longer if the machine
has Outlook 2003 and SP2 as compared to Outlook 2002 SP2

reproducible 100%
