XP service Pack 1 crashed my PC

I installed XP service pack 1 on my kids PC (which they
use for homework). and it crashed my PC. Won't
restart. Keeps trying but doesn't work. Tried to
restart with the various options. (last know good
version, safe mode etc) none of them seem to have any
effect. Just keeps tring the same way. How can I fix
this
 
I tried your suggestions and I'm still broke. It would
not boot from the CD. I checked the Bios and it is set
to boot from the CD first. got any other suggestions I
could try. Thanks for your help
