xp security and upgrades

I am trying to download security and updates for xp from
the website-stops saying it can't find product key code.
I have looked up code on computer but don't know how to
get downloads to download. Please make it simple-I can
handling using programs but all this other stuff is mind
boggling to me without step by step. thx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The product code that it is looking for may be on the case for your XP
CD...
