Security updates for Home XP

I have XP Home with Word 2002 and viewers for Powerpoint,
Excel, Access. Recently Windows Update advised that I
download and install a new dectector for Microsoft
products, and I did. It is now advising me to download
and install the Office products SP3 from the Office
website.
I have the SP2 for Windows Home XP installed but
do I need to install this large SP3 for Office products
just to secure the few office products that I have on my
computer????
Is there available security patches for each office
product that I may have without downloading such a large
patch and where may I find them?? If I do download the
Office SP3 patch will it interfere with my Home XP and
just a few Microsoft Office products on it??
