XP & Scanner

XP, When I go turn off computer, it opens with a black
screen with the message "invalid system disk
replace the disk, then press any key" Which doesn't open
the screen. So, I put in the 'Gateway, Operating System
Window XP-Home Edition and have to reinstall? I am
totally computer illiterate..."

Scanner, when I scan a text document it sends it to
Microsoft Word (for my editing) and changes it to "OCR
Text" which is really strange instead of exact text and I
would like to avoid "OCR Text" altogether. Any help on
either or both would be greatly appreciated (and free, I
hope) Thanks, Ann

Is there a floppy in the diskette drive? Try removing it then
rebooting. No? I suggest, if you are really that computer
illiterate, and it's still covered under warranty, that you contact
Dell for help.

No idea, since you didn't say what kind of scanner, what OCR software
you are using, etc. And - what the hell is "OCR text?"
