I am trying to repair win xp home edition. I press 'r' at
CD boot and it ask me for admin password. I tried entering
my LAN admin password and failed. I enter a blank password
it failed again. Why give XP home edition has this design
function if it does not work?

PS: I entered a question on 15/09/2004 at 07:47:30 why
can't I see it anymore?

thanks

You're not doing a repair but trying to use the "recovery" console.
For the correct procedure on how to do a repair, please visit this web
site and follow his directions:

Good luck.

There are a couple of messages from you on 9/14, nothing on 9/15 other
than this one. The problem you are having in finding messages is you're
using the web interface which is terrible. Use a newsgroup reader. XP
comes with one for free, Outlook Express. Here is a link on how to set
it up for newsgroup use:

As for the lost password, usually a blank password works unless you
assigned a password to the built in administrator account and forgot it.
See if this link can help:
