I am terribly sorry if this has been reposted. I simply
cannot see my postings and I have to send this again.

I am trying to repair win xp home edition. I press 'r' at
CD boot and it ask me for admin password. I tried entering
my LAN admin password and failed. I enter a blank password
it failed again. Why give XP home edition has this design
function if it does not work?

PS: I entered a question on 15/09/2004 at 07:47:30 why
can't I see it anymore?

thanks

If you want to do a repair install, you need to press ENTER, not R.

Click on the link below, or copy and paste the link into the address box
if using the web based newsgroup.

If you really want to load the Recovery Console, try the RC link below.

Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?

You need to log onto the local computer as an
administrator, not log onto your LAN.

You may have forgotten your password. You may have the
CAPS lock key on. Windows may be really screwed up.

There are a lot of tools available to you. Some of the
tools are free. Some will cost > $200.00.

I don't know the rules for posting here, so I won't list
the web sites. Go to your favorite search engine. Search
for Linux Boot password Peter nordahl

When i boot the pc a blue screen says that
D:/windows/system32/config/system.sys is corrupted, boot
Xp from and press R and enter to repair. I follow the
instructions and xp asks for password. What password? I am
the admin and no password at this stage. I never entered
password when installing xp. I already tried my admin
password and tried blank. Whatelse can I do?

thanks

You are booting from the XP CD? If so, your CD is damaged, dirty, a bad
copy, defective CD drive, bad memory, bad hard drive. If one of the previous
applies, correct it and try again.
It is a hardware problem and you must fix the hardware to install XP on this
computer.
