xp reinstallation

I've had to reinstall xp twice now, and I now get a prompt when i try to
re-register my copy "windows installed too many times"? I called Microsoft
and because the CD is not their original, I cannot get a key from them. the
disc is labelled oemplus and can't seem to find them on the web anywhere. I
don't want to have to buy another copy of xp, but it looks to me I may not
have a choice. Anyone else run into this?

Now you know why buying OEM maybe cheap but not necessarily the best.

Contact the vendor.. OEM products are supported by the vendor of the
product.. if the vendor tells you to contact Microsoft, you calmly remind
them that as the vendor of an OEM product, they are responsible..

At this point, you will be asked to hold, and the line will go dead.. so you
will call back and get a small 'sorry for that, I was a little rushed'.. and
then you may get passed from one dept to another, and then cut off again..
oh, the joys of buying OEM..

Of course, the vendor should have made the support issue clear, but they
tend not to do that for obvious reasons.. they wouldn't sell 'jack' if they
did..

All of this assumes that the vendor is still in business and/or available
for questioning..

You do not need to re-register the XP. Registration is always "optional".
You need to call for Product Activation. As long as you have a valid CD
key, MS is obliged to give you the activation key. OEM sellers can not give
the key.
