XP Reinstall: Won't Let Me Login

I had a problem with my XP, so I installed another version (XP Home Edition).
That edition works fine.
I then went to do a repair of my original XP, since I have programs in
there. It finished up apparently normal.
Now, when I boot up, it asks me for my password (it never used to). And, no
matter what i type, i get:
"The specified domain does not exist or cannot be contacted" and I'm locked
out of the program.
I can get into some files, though, by booting up to my 2nd windows program.
Any ideas how to fix that? Also, when I boot up and have a choice of which
windows to load, they both say "Windows XP Home Edition." Can I edit any of
those titles so I can distinguish one from the other?
thanks,

Well you can tap the F8 key on start-up,select safe mode, enter as administr-
ator, then edit the users account(s) for the password problem. You then might
delete a copy of xp,format the partition it created.

I was able to boot to Safe Mode, but it just gave a login option of the same
2 users - administrator and myself, and when i tried either, it gave me the
same message: "The specified domain does not exist or cannot contact." The
only option that was extra was it gave me a reboot option, whereas normal
startup won't even let me boot out of it.
