Help.....

I have an Iomega CDRW , whilst using it the system locked up. The only way out was a reboot, on start up the system failed to find the Iomega drive. So I tried to reinstall the software , hotburn. During reinstallation it sugested that I uninstall the old software so I did . The instilation get to starting the instal wizard and then throws up a window saying missing install component, or wrong parameter. I've found that their was an instal kernel missing soreplaced that but still can't install the Imomega software. I had a look at xp repair centre but had no idea which command to use
I feel that I've currupted some files but can't work out how to rectify this without a complete reinstall of xp and all my software

the system is P3 withthe latest version of XP home, running on a partitioned 80gig HD with 612ish meg ram,
