Xp Recovery Console

Guest

Am using XP Home. Installed install the Recovery Console as a startup option
yesterday. On startup, I get the choice of starting normal or with Recovery
Console, but screen hangs up with message "recovery console starting" with
some strange graphics.

Should I be able to startup in Recovery Console mode with Xp Home?

I am the only user of this computer and have Administrative privileges.

Thanks for any suggestions

You must have set the Recovery Console as the default OS... change that in
Start\Control Panel\System\Advanced Options\Start and
Recuperation\Settings\click on the scroll window in System Startup and
select Windows XP Home as default OS.

Thanks for the reply, Juan. I did not explain what happened on a boot try
very well. I do have XP Home as default OS. During boot, both XP Home and
Recovery Console are listed. If I do nothing, I boot up to XP Home. If I
select Recovery Console the computer freezes with message of "Recovery
Console Starting". All seems well, but I just do not get into the
Recovery Console mode.

a) Reinstall the Recovery Console or access it from the XP CD....
b) Read the first KB article; it may be the problem; Windows XP thinks of
the Recovery Console as an OS so the same may apply.

After you install Windows XP on a computer that is configured for multiple
booting, one of the installed operating systems may be missing

You do not need to have the recovery console as a boot option.. recovery
console can be accessed via the Windows XP CD, assuming that you have one..
