I currently am running 98se on a PIII 750 Sony laptop.
How well will XP run on this CPU? I understand that it
wants 256 megs of ram or more to be happy but have not
found anything on CPU's.

Hello

Xp will run on oyur laptop but I would advise you to have at
least 256negs ram on oyur laptop. Also another thing I would
say don't upgrade, do a full install will work much better for you,
and most important, BACKUP YOUR DATA BEFORE
any upgrade.

Before buying XP, check that there are xp drivers available for your Sony
laptop.. if there isn't, stick with Win 98..

I am currently running XP Pro on a PIII 800 MHz laptop with no problem. Use
it for Word processing, Excel, PowerPoint creation and shows, Internet &
emailing and have used it in a car with Delorme's Street Atlas and their
Earthmate GPS receiver connected to a USB 1.1 port and noticed no slowdown
in speed. Seemed to actually work faster than when I had 98 SE on the
machine. The machine is a Sager Midern brand and does have 256 MB RAM. and
a 12 GB 4500 RPM HDD.

I have XP on my Dell Inspiron 7000 (333 MHz with 128 MB of SDRAM). It
is always a good idea to run the compatibility test before upgrading
though ;)
