XP, RAS, and Netbeui

I understand that Netbeui is not supported in XP and even
though you can install it, it does not work with RAS.

My questions is how can an XP client log into to a RAS
server and see the MS networking Network Neighborhood?

Is there a replacement protocol that will allow the XP
client to see the network neighborhood over a RAS
connection?

Is there a possibility of establishing the RAS connection
and add a VPN connection over it to get access to the
network neighborhood?

You can use TCP/IP over a RAS connection and with proper NetBIOS name
resolution browsing will work.
