XP Prp Start up

I am running XP Pro, I ran the Antivirus software AVG, last night, went to bed and this a.m. my pc was on the windows screen. Frozen, so I rebooted.. no can do, not even in safe mode
Can anyone tell me if a start-up floppy would help or??? I can't even get it to do anything with the XP CD

kurly, you need to hsve the Win XP Pro cd with you to do any kind of troubleshooting. But since you dont have that, you can try a debug using the start up floppy and the try loading Win Xp again.
