Is it possible to add media center to XP professional. I
purchased XP pro and thenlater purchased a new computer
system which came with media center pre installed.
 
No. Its only for Media Center PC's that would violate the
license.

MC is only available as part of the MC version of XP (which happens to
be Pro), meaning the extensions are not available separately.
The XP MC OS is OEM only, and available ONLY to manufactuerers on MC
PCs. Since OEM OSes cannot be transferred, you cannot re-install that
OS on another PC. I doubt you'd be able to buy a second license for
that OS for your non MC PC.
