XP Problem with 16bit apps

Bo

Every time I try to run a Win 95/98 16bit related application or
installation I get this message:

Title: 16bit Windows Subsystem

SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers. Virtual Device Driver
format in the registry is invalid.

Options: Close, Ignore

Anyone have any ideas

I am running XP Pro SP2

See if this helps: "Troubleshooting MS-DOS-Based Programs in Windows"

Right click on the shortcut or application and choose properties. Click on
the Compatability tab. Check the box that says run this program in
compatability mode for and choose Windows 95 from the dropdown list. If that
doesn't work try Windows 98/ME. If Win 95 does not work at first, re boot the
PC and try it again before changing to Win 98.

Another thing is to see if the software manufacturer has an update for the
specific application. Download and install the patch or update, apply it and
reboot the PC. This seems to take care of some of the problems not solved by
changing the compatability mode.

I have have had this work with half of programs I've tried it with. Some
program just will not work at all in XP. You also might be able to find that
out on the mfg's website.

Good Luck,

HJ
