16-Bit MS-DOS Subsystem

Don

When a program attemps to invoke a 16-bit MS-DOS program I receive the
following error message:
"System\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers. VDD. Virtual
Device Driver in the registry is invalid. Choose 'Close' to terminate
the application" with Close and Ignore boxes to choose from. If I
select Ignore the application runs (apparently OK).

The registry entry for VirtualDeviceDrivers has no set value.

Is there a 'fix' for this error? Thanks in advance.
