XP Pro Welcome Screen on resume from screen saver

I have always had Windows set up so that when it resumed from a screen saver,
the Welcome Screen would appear, and whoever was using the computer could log
into their account. I have no idea what caused the change, but now, in the
Display Properties box, Screen Saver tab, I have a box for "On resume,
password protect," but the "On resume, display Welcome Screen" option has
disappeared. The password protect option keeps Windows logged into the same
account and brings up a dialogue box asking for the password. Does anyone
know how to get the Welcome Screen option back? Thanks.

Hi Zoomastogina,

Enable Fast User Switching (User Accounts applet in Control Panel>Change the
way users log on/off link, click in the checkbox beside "Use Fast User
Switching to place a checkmark there, then click on Apply Options button).

Fast user switching is already enabled.

If you also have more than one User Account (besides the built-in Guest and
Administrator account), then I have no idea of why you have the On resume
password protect option instead of the On resume, display Welcome Screen
option.

OK, I guess it was because I just had my account and the guest account. I
recently deleted another account, but I figured that it would still want to
give guests a chance to log in. I guess I should have tried adding another
account a long time ago. Thanks for the help.

You're welcome for the help :)

I guess when you initially said "whoever was using the computer could log
into their account", I assumed that you had more than one User Account. Even
if the Guest Account is activated, you would still have the On resume,
password protect option.

I know this topic is solved : But for anyone out there who cant fix this
problem...

If you have ever messed with your "Services" in Control panel>Administrative
tools>Services(Make sure your in classic view for control panel - change it
at top right of window)

Look for somthing called "fast user switching" service. If it is DISALBED,
right click, properties, and set to automatic. If having touble finding it,
look at the top of the list and organize it by clicking on the status bar
(the one that has all the Automatic, Manual, Disable text under it. Look for
services that are Disabled. This fixed my problem! I hope it fixes yours.

If you dont know what youre doing in administrative tools, i suggest you
dont mess around, You could trash your computer!
