Anyone seen this problem? I had XP Pro on another machine and the CD got
scratched bad. So I bought a new copy of just the Home Edition and now I
cannot use my backup hard drive. It says it is a foreign disk in the disk
manager and if I want to change it to a basic disk it will erase all data. I
cannot afford to loose the data on the disk. Is there any way to fix this
without wasting more money on XP pro?

All you need to do is ask MS for a replacement XP Pro CD - send the damaged
on and they will replace...

Should never have bothered buying anything to replace..

This isn't an issue of Pro/Home. It sounds like you had set your
original drives to be dynamic. Back up the data on your second hard
drive using Knoppix or a Bart's PE and then you can change it to a
basic disk and format it.
