XP Pro Stop Error 0X00000074 BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO

Client's computer was "up-chipped" to 2 x 512MB sticks of DDR RAM some time
ago and has run well since. Yesterday it booted into BSOD re Bad System
Config Info. I have replaced RAM and tried Last Known Config switch, but
still get the same error. Any guidance? Thanks!
