XP Pro SP2 will not recongrize DVD drive

I just installed a DVD burner ( Sony ) on my computer with XP pro SP2. It
recognized it and worked fine. But every time I reboot or shut down the
computer and start it up again it will not recognized the DVD burner. I then
have to go to "system" then to "device manager" then to DVD/CD-ROM drives
and right click and tell it to " scan for hardware changes" then it
recognizes it again until I shut down, reboot and then it won't recognize
it. Cannot fine anything wrong with the DVD drive or any conflicts.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sometimes installation fo sp2 interferes with drivers for devices. Check to
see if there are any sp2 related updates from your manufacturer and install
them.
