Due to Vista issues, I'm back using XP as my OS. All's well except that it
will not recognized my DVD drive/burner as such, identifying it only as a CD
drive. It reads blank DVD media as full and not useable--yet it does display
the correct icon under "My Computer" as DVD media in a CD drive.
I am able to view DVDs without issue--XP will just not allow me to burn onto
blank DVD media--and this is crucial since I make many home movies of my kids
for family. I assume the problem is partially related (if not completely) to
the fact that the OS sees only a CD drive.
My hope is that this is a configuration glitch. I have an LG DVD burner
(HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55L as identified under my computer). My system is an
intel based dual core 2.4Ghz with 2GB of ram.
Any suggestions? Many thanks in advance.
