Sorry, but one cannot "downgrade" Windows XP Professional
to Windows XP Home Edition. Backup your files and perform
a "clean install".

The only way to change from WinXP Pro to WinXP Home is to format
the drive and start over. There is no supported downgrade path or
technique.

After backing up any data you wish to preserve, simply boot from
the WinXP Home installation CD. You'll be offered the opportunity to
delete, create, and format partitions as part of the installation
process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot devices in the
PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Sorry, there is no way to downgrade. Your only option is to format and
install XP Home cleanly.

Why do you want to do this? Do you realize that XP Home is a subset of XP
Professional? There are extra things in Professional, but nothing in Home
that isn't also in Professional. You may not need all the features of
Professional, but their being there doesn't hurt you.

I'm not saying it applies in this case but because of WGA many users of
"corporate" XP Pro installs are looking to change their operating system.

I can understand your angst with SP2, but /downgrade/ to Home? Why?
