XP PRo re-install Question

I have a legal copy of XP Pro pre-service pack-2 on wifes computer. I also
have a later lega copy of XP Pro which includes Service Pack-2 on my
computer. All copies are legit and paid for. My question... Can I use the
Sp-2 copy (my copy) to do a reformat and clean reinstall on wifes computer
and will it still activate properly with the product codes etc. that came
with the PRE-Service Pack-2 version? Reason being it's obviously easer to
user the copy which has service pack-2 built in. Not trying to save money
here, just trying make it easier. Thanks for the help.

Normally you would not be able to reuse your product key to active the
installation on your wife's computer. However depending on the "age" of the
XP CD, Internet activation may be successful or phone activation required.

If SP2 is the issue - why not wait - XP SP3 is due shortly (Mid-April).

Thanks Mark for your response. That's what I sort of thought. Somewhere
months back I remember reading something somewhere that you could use the
exact same copy version with another legitimate code etc. since you had paid
for that code. Both copies are full retail versions and not EOM. Just the
wifes was pre-service Pack2. Another reply down said SP-3 is coming out soon
so I may wait for that.

Thanks.

I would still use the wifes key but the software would be my XP-PRO with its
built in Service Pack 2 on her PC.
