XP pro no a NT4.0 Domain

I just got new Note Book that came with XP home
Eddition. The Network Im on is a NT4.0 domain server the
error message read somthing like "Domain controler for
domain XXX could not be found" I know that doman name is
type correctly. any suggestion??
